Malaysian Movie Maindhan Debuts in Chennai

Chennai, Tamil Nadu 4th July 2014 – Astro Shaw, a leading film production company under the Astro Group, launched its second Tamil movie “Maindhan” with its sound track at Prasad Lab in Chennai today. The event was graced by Gayatri Su-Lin Pillai and Najwa Abu Bakar from Astro Shaw, Dr.Rajamani Chellamuthu from Astro as well as famous personalities from Kollywood Cinema Industry like Vimal, Devayani, Srikanth, Namitha, Naren, Kalaipuli Thanu and Rajakumaran. 

 

Gayatri Su Lin Pillai, General Manager of Astro Shaw said, “In launching Maindhan in Chennai, Astro Shaw is pleased to enable Malaysian content and talents to go beyond our shores and compete in a global arena. We are grateful to have received generous support from the Ministry of Tourism and Culture Malaysia who is a co-sponsor of this event. We hope that Maindhan will pave the way for more Malaysian Tamil films to be marketed and sold in India”. 

 

Maindhan is a movie about Dev (C.Kumaresan), a drifter who is forced to struggle with depression and with his tragic past, is now faced with the beginning of a new kind of love. Dev's life takes an abrupt turn when he accidently bumps into a boy (Hanuman) who is running away from a human trafficking syndicate. 

 

C.Kumaresan, the Director, Actor and Co-Producer of Maindhan, have been in the Malaysian film industry for more than 10 years working as an actor, cinematographer and Director. When asked about his first movie Maindhan, “It is my ardent hope that Maindhan will be a box office hit and that the film will travel in India” said C.Kumaresan.

 

In conjunction with the launch of the movie, Astro Shaw also launched the movie sound track consisting of four original songs, which were composed by Mansher Singh and Rabbit Mac. The four songs are Pothumada Saami, a light-hearted friendship song, Idhayam Parakkirathey a romantic duet by Maney Villanz and Shaila Nair, Masuk, a fast paced rap number performed by Rabbit Mac featuring Daddy Shaq and Amshamaana Guluvaali, a love song from Maney Villanz and Gayathri Thandapadi. Also present at the event were the cast of Maindhan - C.Kumaresan (the Director cum Hero), Rabbit Mac (actor cum singer), Sheezay (singer), Hanuman (child actor), THR Uthaya (villain), Mansher Singh (Music Director) and Maney Villanz (singer). Maindhan comes after the box office success of the first Tamil movie produced by Astro Shaw, Appalam (Malaysian Movie). Appalam won Best film and Best Actress at the Malaysian Tamil Artists Awards 2011 and Best Film at the Malaysian Indian Film Festival 2011 in Chennai, India. Maindhan will be released in Malaysian cinemas on 7th August 2014.
